Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNORMAN MATTES January 12, 1930 - September 24, 2007 Peacefully with his family at his side, Norman Mattes, passed away at the Victoria General Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Norman was predeceased by his mother Julia and father Jacob; his sister Irene; his brother George; his sister Christina. Left with many happy memories of Norman is his wife Edna and their children Richard, Gord (Mary-Anne), Lori (Thomas), Brad (Daniela). Papa will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, which he adored; Alicia, Blair, Austin and Erica. Sisters, Elsie and Kaye and brother Jack (Mary) as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. The youngest of seven, Norman was born and raised in Winnipeg. He was a life long fan of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and also enjoyed five pin bowling and tending to his garden. Prior to retirement Norman was employed at Joy Manufacturing for 38 years. Norman was truly loved by all that knew him; he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. His family meant everything to him and he especially enjoyed every minute he had with his beloved grandchildren. A celebration of Norman's life will be held at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., on Friday September 28, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3L 0K6 A special thank you goes out to the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff of the ICU unit at Victoria General Hospital for their wonderful care and support. The memories still linger of happiness and joy That only comes from love which time cannot destroy The moments you were with us together and apart Are memories we cherish, and hold dear to our hearts We remember all the kindness the wisdom and the sharing The family as your focus, for your love and caring There are many pleasant thoughts our minds can only reach To be cherished forever that are special to us each.
