DOROTHY KATHLEEN SAVELA Peacefully, on Sunday September 23, 2007, Dorothy passed away at the Health Science Centre at the age of 86. Dorothy was predeceased by her daughter Barbara in 1980 and her beloved husband Albert in 2004. Dorothy is survived by family in Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, Toronto, Ottawa, British Columbia and Ireland. Dorothy enjoyed a full life with her best friend, and the love of her life Albert. Throughout their 58 years of marriage, Dorothy would say I love you to Albert to a response of Me to . Dorothy and Albert loved to travel and spent many winters under Texas skies with other snow birds they had come to know over the years. Dorothy had a sweet tooth and thought that everyone else should have a sweet tooth as well. Loving to bake, and being a good baker, Dorothy would whip up a batch of chocolate chip cookies and head out to visit her friends with a basket full of cookies and a few good jokes. Dorothy loved to go shopping and purchases with an On Sale tag caught her eye and she would always come home with a bargain whether the purchase was made at a thrift store or The Bay. A stuffed toy frog that played the song It's A Wonderful Life when squeezed sums up the way Dorothy and Albert lived their lives. A memorial service will be held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 657 Buckingham Road, Friday, September 28, at 1:30 p.m. Dorothy was an active member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 657 Buckingham Road, Winnipeg, MB R3R 1B9.
