Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANK JOSEPH FLORKO Peacefully on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at Tudor House Personal Care Home, Frank Florko passed away at the age of 84 years. Dad was predeceased by his wife Nettie in 1990, his parents, Christine and Michael; sister Annie Zatylny and grandson Michael Florko-Thomas. His memory will be cherished by his four children, sons, Larry (Yvonne), Wayne, Doug (Cathy) and daughter Sheldene (Nelson); grandchildren, Dean (Sheila), Nadine (Aaron), Chris (Barrie), Ashton, Chelsea, Steven, Katie, Keri (Tony) and Leif; and great-grandchildren, Christopher, Ethan, Landen and his mom Sandi, Katelyn, Lukas and Elijah. Dad was born February 19, 1923 in Poland. He came to Canada with his parents when he was three months old, settling in the area around Erickson, Manitoba. He met our Mom in the early 1940s, they married in 1943 and bought a farm in Kirkness, Manitoba in 1945. It was here that they raised their family. In 1973 Mom and Dad sold the farm and moved to Selkirk. Dad also worked in the aircraft industry as a sheet metal man, retiring in 1986. Throughout his retirement Dad could always be found in his garage working on pontoons and boats. He enjoyed watching hockey and wrestling. In later years when his health declined, he became a resident of Tudor House. Prayers will be held on Sunday, September 30 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 1 at 10:30 a.m. in the Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church with Fr. Peter Chorney officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Clements Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephew Ed Janczyszyn. Sincere thanks to Dr. Lindenschmidt and staff of Selkirk General Hospital for their care during his brief hospital stay there, and to Dr. Demsas and staff at Tudor House for their compassionate care over the years.
