EVERT NAKKA September 11, 1916 September 26, 2007 At the age of 91, Evert passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at the Victoria Hospital. He was born on September 11, 1916, in Whitemouth, Manitoba to Finnish immigrant parents. Evert was very proud of his Finnish ancestry. He travelled to Finland on several occasions to renew ties with his Finnish relatives and to learn more about his heritage. Evert had a deep love of knowledge and an insatiable curiosity of the world around him. He was devoted to his family and loved gardening, educational programs, gospel music, and travelling. He also had a very deep faith. As strong as his zest and enthusiasm for life was, he looked forward to Going Home to his Lord. Evert was predeceased by his first wife, Anne. Left to mourn his passing are his wife Gertrude; daughters, Gail, Deborah and Brenda; sons, Blair and Richard; his grandchildren, Kevin, Lynden, Jani and Alex. Also left to cherish Evert's memory are his stepchildren, Henry, Shirley, Grace, Carolyn, Laverda. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made in Evert's memory to Macular Degeneration Research or The CNIB. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 29 at 11:00 a.m., in the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 930 Winakwa Rd., in Windsor Park.
