Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARTHA MARY MUSGROVE On September 26, 2007, with her family at her side, Martha Mary Musgrove passed away after a long and hard fought battle with Alzheimers. Martha was born in 1920, the daughter of Adeline and Leon Van Elslander and sister to Agnes. Her early years were spent in St. Norbert where she attended school, spent time with her family and friends and helped with the market garden that sustained them. She met her husband Joe who worked on the family farm and they wed in 1936. Their first child Cecilia was born shortly thereafter but died in infancy. Martha and Joe then had four other children; Richard (Josie), Ken (Marylin), Pat (Eric) and Linda (Barry). With children, there also came grandchildren; JoAnne, Lisa and Sandra; Steven and Chris; Joe and Rob; and Andrea, Tracy and Michael. There are also great-grandchildren; Ken and Matthew; Branden and Dawson; Cassie; Meagan and Marissa; Jesse, TJ and Tyson; and Ty. Martha and Joe lived first in St. Norbert, moving to Charleswood to run a mink ranch in 1943. When Air Canada moved its maintenance facility to Montreal in 1960, the family moved and lived there until Joe's retirement in 1974. Martha and Joe then settled in Chilliwack until his death in 1983. At that time, Martha moved back to Winnipeg to be closer to family and friends. In recent years, Martha resided at St. Michael's Villa and at Bethania Mennonite Personal Care. The family will always be grateful for the care provided by Bethania's staff and to name a few Maria, Chris, Helen, Jeannette, Sharon, Maurico and Donny. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 1, 2007 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. with a viewing half hour prior to the service. Flowers are declined, but the family encourages donations to either the Alzheimer's Society or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
