RUBY GRAHAM (nee LINKLATER) September 29, 1912 - February 1, 2007 Ruby was the last surviving of the nine children born to Charlotte Ann (Swain) and William Linklater of Portage La Prairie, MB. The family moved to Grand Marais following the First World War. Her beloved father William died in 1929. Ruby was devoted to her adored mother Charlotte who passed away in 1957. She was selflessly devoted to her children too, always putting their needs above her own. She was a tireless little workhorse in her efforts to keep her family fed and together. Ruby was feisty, had a quick sense of humour, and was a lot of fun to be with. She had integrity, was a real straight arrow, and there was not one selfish bone in her body. Ruby's fondest memories were of the happy times out home in Grand Marais in the 1930s and 1940s when she was a young woman. In those days there was no electricity or running water. Neighbours pitched in to help and support each other. Everyone worked hard, but had wonderful fun times, too. She was predeceased by her four brothers and four sisters, William (Bud), Ethel, Albert, Neal, James, Violet, Gertrude and Myrtle, as well as by her twin sons, Arthur and Arnold who passed away in 1964 and 1999 respectively. She is survived by her daughter Margaret Anne-Marie (Judy, Montreal); four grandchildren, Eric and Lexis (of Vancouver island), Naomi (Vancouver) and Anne-Marie (Toronto). Two great-grandchildren, Berez (Vancouver) and Kashna (Vancouver Island) and two step-great-grandchildren, Amy and Connor (Vancouver island). Ruby's ashes will be interred with her parents, Charlotte and William at a graveside service Saturday, October 6, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in St-Jude's Anglican Church Cemetery, Grand Marais, MB. Rev. J. Wittmore officiating. Judy would love to hear from relatives and Ruby's friends. She can be reached at (204) 943-8557. Many thanks to the staff at Charleswood Care. Still ever near us though unseen The dear immortal Spirits tread For all the boundless universe is life, there are no dead.
