Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIE JOSEPHINE DANYLUK (nee PURA) February 19, 1922 - September 28, 2007 Marie died peacefully in her sleep at the Health Sciences Centre after a lengthy illness. Marie was born in Lopatyn, Poland, and immigrated to Canada with her mother in 1929 to join her father. In her early years of marriage, she lived in many towns throughout Manitoba but spent a long period of time in Winnipeg Beach raising her three daughters. She settled in Winnipeg in the early 1970s and worked for many years in Dietary Service at Holy Family Nursing Home until her retirement. She derived great joy and pleasure from her vegetable and flower gardens and her many houseplants. She loved her dogs who were her constant companions. Marie is survived by her daughters Eleanor Schmidt (Larry), and Louise Chapadas (David), son-in-law David Skomerowski (Rosa); her brothers Peter Pura and Joseph Pura (Shirley) and her sister, Sister Gerarda Pura, OSB; her grandchildren Vincent Skomerowski (Deborah), Teresa Piche (Bob), Leslie Harding and David Schmidt (Vanessa), Laura Paul (Lorne) and Craig Paul (Terri); her great-grandchildren Nicholas and Jessica Skomerowski, and Heather and Kimberley Paul; her beloved nieces and nephews Cathy McElhoes (Randy), Godchild Mary-Ann Fast (Tim), Mike Pura (Heather), Peter Pura (Lina), Kevin Pura and great-nieces and nephews Jason, Ryan and Brendan McElhoes, Heather and Paula Fast, Nicolas and Luke Pura, Bianca Pura and many cousins and especially her good friend Ollie Turke. She was predeceased by her parents William and Frances Pura, infant sister Sophie, daughter Frances Skomerowski, grandson Robert Schmidt, nephew Andrew Pura, sister-in-law Nellie Pura and several extended family members. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 1 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, 250 Burrin Avenue, Winnipeg. The Presider will be Rev. Fr. Henryk Laciak. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Flowers are gratefully declined.
