JOAN VIOLET COWELL On Friday, September 21, 2007 at the Victoria Hospital, Joan Cowell, passed away at the age of 82 years. Joan was born and raised in England. During the Second World War she met and married Charles, and shortly after travelled with many other War Brides to Canada. Charles and Joan raised a family together in Winnipeg. She worked for a short time with Canada Post. Joan was a devoted and caring mother. She loved and cared for her family and was proud and interested in all they did. Joan loved spending time with her great-grandsons Mackenzie, Scott and Keaghan. Joan also enjoyed knitting, needle point and word puzzles. Joan was predeceased by her husband Charles in April, 2004. She leaves to cherish her memory her three children, daughters Karen Bulmer and Gale (Ian) Kane and son Colin (Marlene) Cowell; grandchildren Russell (Ian), Tamara (Brent), Stuart (Christina), and Timothy; and great-grandsons Mackenzie, Scott, and Keaghan. A private memorial service was held on Tuesday, September 25th at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the nurses and doctors at the Victoria Hospital for their kindness and care.
