ROBERT JAMES MACDOUGALL August 24, 1921 - September 25, 2007 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert James (Bob) MacDougall on Tuesday, September 25 at the age of 86 years after a brief illness at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Our dear father, grandfather and great-grandfather, brother and friend will be remembered by his son Trevor Garth (Barbara) of Calgary; daughter Mavis Dawn Swedlo and grandsons, Tyson and Dean of Winnipeg. Scott (Jayme) of Edmonton and Kevin (Becky) of Victoria and great-grandson Kaden. He is also survived by two brothers, Bill (Frankie) and Keith (Mona) of Winnipeg and one sister Jean (Corney) Voth of Calgary. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Bernice in 1993. Bob was born near Margaret, MB. As a young man, he served in the Second World War as a driver and spent 52 months overseas with the 23rd Field Regiment of the Royal Canadian Artillery. He returned to Canada in October of 1945 and started work in Margaret as a mechanic where he and Bernice married in 1946. The family moved to Winnipeg in 1948 where Bob was employed as a heavy duty mechanic with Prairie Equipment. He enjoyed coaching both baseball and hockey at the Kirkfield Park Community Centre. In 1973, Bob began a teaching career in Power Mechanics at the Swan River Regional School. Bob and Bernice returned to Winnipeg in 1981. After Bernice's passing in 1993, Bob joined Club 66 where he made many friends. He enjoyed playing cards, get-togethers and sharing jokes. He also volunteered at the Western Canada Aviation Museum by conducting guided tours. He was especially proud of having the keys to open the museum doors and turn on the lights. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and preserving jams and jellies. A special thanks is extended to Jean Stein for the friendship, support and care provided over the last 13 years and especially over the last few months. In keeping with Bob's wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. Private interment of his cremated remains will take place in Margaret, MB. Flowers are gratefully declined. Should friends so desire, a donation in Bob's memory may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
