IRMA WOLTMANN Surrounded by the love and laughter of her family, Irma Adeline Woltmann was embraced by her Lord and Saviour on September 27, 2007 after a five-year battle with cancer. She was 74 years old. She is mourned by her husband of 54 years, Manfred, as well as her five children: Doris (Frank) Barwich, Marlene Schroeder, Evelyn (Gary) Willms, Norman (Janet) Woltmann and Anita (Bobby) Roulston. She will also be sadly missed by her 20 grandchildren, Meaghan, Erin and Paul DeGroot; Charis (Matthew), Kristine, Jonnthan, and Kiah Schroeder; Sarah (Josh), Janelle, Renae (Scott), Talitha, Serena (Jayson), David and Caleb Willms; Laura, Kate and Nathan Woltmann; Savanna, Jackson and Justice Roulston; five great-grandchildren and three surviving siblings, Berta (Manfred) Lange, Georg (Eleanor) Helmke and Agnes (Heinz) Kubillus in Germany. Irma was born in Drangstedt, West Germany on May 26, 1933, the seventh of eight children of Dietrich and Adeline Helmke. She met Manfred at the age of 16 and followed him to Canada at the age of 20. Manfred and Irma married on December 5, 1953, in the company of their Christian community in Winnipeg. Irma was a devoted partner, loving mother to her five children and beloved Oma to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a servant's heart and exercised her gift of hospitality generously, always making room for her expanding family and others within her community. Irma was a wise and loving companion, faithful mother and friend who was always there, working hard to meet every need. Manfred and Irma spent their retirement years travelling the globe and enjoying their lakeside cottage residence, as well as time in Florida, together with family and friends. Irma had a passionate love for Jesus, cultivating a spiritual legacy through a life of daily devotion and prayer. We will miss her wonderful sense of humour and her gracious, quiet presence. The family would like to extend special thanks to her faithful caregivers Anita and Bobby Roulston and family, as well as Dr. Steve Latosinsky, Ann Ediger and other staff from the WRHA Palliative Care Program. Viewing will take place from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 30, 2007 at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street. Interment will take place prior to the service at Sunnyside Cemetery, Oakbank at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, October 1, 2007, with a memorial and celebration service following at 2:00 p.m. at the Rowandale Baptist Church, 162 Rowandale Avenue.
