RUDOLPH HAPKO 1916 - 2007 With his daughters at his side, Rudy passed away Thursday, September 27, 2007, at Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home at the age of 91. Rudy will be sadly missed by daughters, Gayle (Douglas) Todd, Cheryl, Carol, Lenore (Kerry) Pelowich, Glenda, and son-in-law John Washook; grandchildren, Andrea (Nicholas) Moser, Randall Todd, Donald and Kathleen Washook, Tyler and Stacey Pelowich; great-grandchild Rudy Moser. Rudy will also be missed by his sisters Millie Cuculick and Jean Pascoe and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Rudy was predeceased by his wife Mary; daughter Leslie; infant sons, Donald and Kenneth; parents, Jacob and Julia; brothers, Edward, Carl, John and Walter; sister Bertha Parker and nephew Charles. Rudy was born in Brightstone, MB, on May 20, 1916. In 1952 he married Mary Brezeno and settled on the family farm where he raised six daughters. Rudy was strong and stern but also a very gentle man. He worked hard on the family farm and was also employed at Caseys Inn and Lakeview Hotel in Lac du Bonnet. He enjoyed the outdoors, and would go berry and mushroom picking whenever he could. He loved his farm and this was evident in the way he took care of his animals and farm machinery. He quit farming at age 74 due to health issues, moved to Lac du Bonnet in 1992 and then to Winnipeg in 1999. He became a resident of Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home in 2000. He led a very active life at the home, participating in a number of activities such as bowling, floor hockey and shuffleboard and many outings including fishing, trips to The Forks, and attending Goldeyes and Moose games. He adored his grandchildren and especially great-grandson Little Rudy. The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home who lovingly cared for dad the past seven years. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 1, at 1:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, Park Avenue E., Beausejour, with Rev. Fr. Pierre Wood officiating, with cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home. We love you and we'll miss you. We will all be together one day.
