MALCOLM MACLELLAN 90 LITTLE NARROWS, Victoria County, NS My life comes to an end at peace with myself, with all people and especially with God as I understand Him. I have no sadness, no regrets, and no fear of the future. I look upon my life as a miracle. God has truly cared for me. I should have been dead long ago and on many occasions, but someone did for me what I could not do for myself. With these sentiments, Malcolm ended his journey in this life Monday, October 1, 2007 in the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck. Born in Ottawa Brook on May 13, 1917, he was the son of the late Angus and Cassie (MacLean) MacLellan. He spent most of his adult life in Western Canada, where he taught High School, preached Retreats, worked in Addiction Centres in Manitoba and finally returned to Cape Breton where he retired in Little Narrows. In his own words, For the last years of my life, I have tried to live in peace, leaving behind the expectations, the ambitions, the pain, the turmoil of others days and ways. Among those who had the good fortune of sharing his life, love and wit are his wife and best friend, Denise; his sister Catherine Bonaparte, Reserve; brother Jack, Toronto; many relatives, nieces and nephews and numerous AA members from across Canada. He was predeceased by two sisters: Sr. Clement Mary and Anne Hunley; five brothers: John Neil, Charlie, Jim Angus, Allen and Mike. In accordance with Malcolm's wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, with a private interment at a later date. Malcolm was an organ donor. Relatives and friends are invited to drop by the house to share memories and refreshments. We, in our turn, sought the same escape with all the desperation of a drowning man. What at first seemed a flimsy reed, has proved to be the loving hand of God (BIG BOOK OF AA) Malcolm celebrated 36 years in AA on September 11, 2007. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
