MARY ELIZABETH (BETTY) GRAY (nee TOWNSEND) August 21, 1924 - September 30, 2007 It is with heartfelt sadness that our family announces the passing of our mom at the Concordia Hospital on September 30, 2007. She leaves to forever cherish her memory, her three children, 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Kim (Miles), Ainsley, Chelsea; Rob (Debby), Shaun (Kaleigh), Ryan, Brittany, Courtney, Scott (Megan), Jen, Emily, Nathaniel, Logan; Roger (Gail), Jodi (Kelly), Kevin, Kory, Abigail, Paige. She was predeceased by her husband Bill, her parents and six siblings. Mom was born on August 21, 1924 in New Haven, Sussex, England. She married our Dad in 1943 and emigrated to Canada to begin her new life. She was a stay at home mom who dedicated her life to her family and volunteered her time and talents to Boy Scouts, the Legion, Ladies Auxiliary, but to name a few. Though faced with many challenges, mom always remained strong and gave us encouragement. She will always be remembered for her generous and hardworking nature, quick wit, honesty and for always being there for her family. She provided a place in her home for everyone and was considered by many as their second mom . Even as the family grew, mom maintained her sense of humour which kept us all in stitches. Her family in Winnipeg as well as England were her life. She expressed time and again how much her nephew Brian and wife Daphne meant to her. Our family expresses our deepest thanks and gratitude to them at this time. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the staff of N3 East of the Concordia Hospital. Thanks to all for giving mom comfort, compassion and dignity; it has been a great source of strength to us at this difficult time. A memorial service and reception to celebrate mom's life will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at 10:30 a.m., at Friends Funeral Chapel, 2146 Main Street.
