ELVIN GARY HOSEA With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Elvin Gary Hosea, loving husband, father, brother, and friend, on September 3, 2007, after a dignified and courageous battle with cancer. Gary was born in Morden, MB at the Freemason's Hospital. As a boy, he was actively involved in the Boy Scouts of Canada, where he was honoured for his achievements. Gary completed his Grade XII in Morden where he received the Governor General's Award. In his career as a Chartered Accountant, initially with Deloitte Touche in Winnipeg, his work took him to Saskatoon, Ottawa, and finally back to Winnipeg. Gary spent most of his career with the Government of Canada, retiring in 1996. Gary joined the Mason, completed the Scottish Rite, and was active in various roles for many years. Among the activities in his retirement, Gary drove for CancerCare Manitoba. His happiest times were spent at the lake, where life focused on the cabin, his little dogs, the wildlife, and the friends with whom he shared those times. Gary was predeceased by his mother Tillie in 1981 and his father Elvin in 1991. His is survived by his wife Sylvia Friesen of Winnipeg, son Darrell of Red Deer and daughter Laureen Webb (Don) of Leduc, AB; and grandchildren, Michaela, Nicole, and Daniel. Also left to mourn are Gary's brother Wayne (Darlene) and Ken (Linda) of Morden, and Douglas (Lorraine) of Brandon; nieces, Debbie and Cynthia; nephews, Dale, Craig, and Jason, along with their families. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff who assisted Gary through his illness. Gary will always be loved and remembered, and greatly missed. A memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue in Winnipeg at 2:00 p.m. on October 12, 2007.
