MARTHA EVELYN JOYCE MILLS (nee KNIGHT) Peacefully on Thursday, September 27, 2007 with family by her side, Evelyn passed away at Riverview Health Centre after a battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her son, Dr. Alex Mills; her sister, Dorothy McCurdy, and her sister-in-law, June Knight. Evelyn is survived by her sister, Lois Bowman of Winnipeg; brothers, Allan Knight of Calgary, and Dr. Les Knight of Souris; grandchildren, Teresa Anne, Jennifer, and Robert Mills; daughter-in-law, Dr. Donna Wall of San Antonio, TX; and niece, Dr. Wendy McCurdy of Tucson, AZ. Evelyn was born to Les and Edith Knight and raised in Souris. She excelled in academics and was awarded Isbister Scholarships in grades XI and XII. She received Bachelor of Arts and Education degrees from the University of Manitoba and taught Mathematics for more than 30 years in Souris and Winnipeg. She served on many committees, including those that set the provincial curriculum and examinations in Mathematics and led many teams to successful Mathematics competitions. She always had a keen interest in her grandchildrens' lives and was very proud of them. Evelyn enjoyed curling, gardening, reading, Jeopardy, doing puzzles and cheering for her favourite hockey and baseball teams. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. A special thank you to Dr. Sikora, Dr. Silvaggio and the staff at Victoria Hospital and Riverview Health Centre. A private service to be held at a later date.
