EUGENIJUS KALASAUSKAS (a.k.a. EUGENE KALAS) Peacefully at Grace Hospice on October 1, 2007 Eugenijus, beloved husband of Kaze Kalasauskas, Eugene quietly passed away at the age of 86 years with Joy and Romano and his nurse Amanda at his side. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Vytautas, Aleksandras, Tadas and Pranas and leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 57 years Kaze, his sister Stefanija, many nieces, nephews and other relatives, all in Lithuania, as well as numerous friends in Canada, USA and England. Eugenijus was born in 1921 in Tytuvenai, Lithuania. In l947 he emigrated to England, where he married his beloved Kaze in 1950. In 1952 they came to Canada and made their home in Winnipeg. He spent his working career until his retirement with Mediacom Inc. and it's predecessor companies, the last ten years in a position of Vice-President, Operations for the Western Region. He was well respected by his peers and fellow employees and made many enduring friendships. In 1986 he was awarded the Outdoor Advertising Association's of Canada prestigious Man of the Year award for his contribution to the industry. He was a1973 graduate of the Canadian Institute of Management four year course in Business Management and Administration at the University of Manitoba and spent many hours of his adult life studying and enjoying various hobbies in his spare time. He was an active member of the St. Casimir's Lithuanian Roman Catholic Church until its closure in 1999, and of the Canadian-Lithuanian Community. Special Thanks to Drs. Tim Ross, P. Wiens, Hartley as well as Dr. Harris and the staff of the Grace Oncology. Eugene wishes to thank all those involved in his care including Laurie Read and Hospice Staff, Margaret, Donna, Wynona, Teryl, Jenna, Craig, Amanda, Tiffany, Gaye, Tracy and Jim; as well as Palliative Home Care nurse Chris. In accordance with Eugenijus' wishes cremation has taken place, and the service of remembrance will be celebrated at a later date at his birthplace in his native Lithuania.
