EDDIE A. J. LAMOTHE Born on May 2, 1923, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Eddie Lamothe, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully at Vista Park Lodge on October 2, 2007. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 41 years Margaret, in 2005, tragically his son Blair in 1996, brother Henry, and sisters Annette and Rose, and also his parents, Arthur and Cecile Lamothe. Eddie is survived and deeply missed by his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Ralph Borger, grandchildren, Michael, Steven, and Timothy Borger, and Lindsay (Josh) Currah, brothers, Andy (Shirley), Albert (Margaret), Jerry (Pat), Clem, Gilbert (Caroline), and sisters, Aline (Lindsay) Marin, and Rita Coulombe, stepson Don (Sharon) Gruhn, many nieces and nephews, their families, and numerous friends. Dad, the oldest of 11 children, was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Arthur and Cecile (nee Richard) Lamothe, and raised in St. Francois Xavier, Manitoba. He attended the local school until grade eight when he had to give it up to help out on the family farm. Dad served in the Canadian Army from 1943-44, and re-enlisted in Prince Rupert, BC, in 1944, where he served in Canada and United Kingdom as a mechanic during the Second World War. He was discharged in April of 1946 to return to civil life. He received a Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, War Medal 1939-1945. Being a mechanic by trade led him to his career as a mechanic for the Provincial Garage in Winnipeg. After joining the St. Vital Legion Branch #16, he met Margaret. They raised their son and daughter in St. Vital, curled with the St. Vital Curling Club, and spent every summer camping at Toniata campground on Falcon Lake, also pulling their trailer across Canada and the northern United States on family vacations. Eddie very much enjoyed camping and the outdoors. He was also involved in Cub Scouts as a pack leader, with son, Blair. Eddie was always eager to help anyone in need and was truly an amazing man. We wish to thank, for their compassionate care, all of the staff at Vista Park Lodge. A memorial service will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolences at www.glenlawn.ca. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550
