Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANK MALENCHAK Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather passed away peacefully at Concordia Hospital surrounded by family at the age of 87, on October 2, 2007. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mina (LeTexier); children, Patricia (Grant), Bruce, Sandra (Don), Gordon (Theresa), Melvin; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Helen, Edward (Tillie), Jennie, Victoria, Ted (Mary); and sister-in-law Kay. Frank was predeceased by his parents Adam and Katherine (Chymy); children, Darlene and Ritchard. Frank was born in Fisher Branch, Manitoba. He worked with his family on the homestead, farming. During the Second World War he enlisted in the Canadian Army and trained as a craftsman mechanic. En route to Italy (where he served from 1941 to 1946) his ship was sunk in the Mediterranean. After surviving 12 hours in the water he was rescued and continued serving his country to the end of the war. On his return to Canada he married his sweetheart Mina and they raised their family in Manitoba. During his career as a Millwright, Frank worked on many projects including the generating system in Grand Rapids and Jenpeg. Upon retiring Frank and Mina travelled throughout the States and Canada, settling finally in Winnipeg. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. A special thanks to the staff and doctors of N2west Concordia Hospital for all they have done. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank's memory to the Kidney Foundation.
