Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBENJAMIN JAMES DEVLIN Mr. Benjamin James Devlin, surrounded by his family passed away at Lake of the Woods District Hospital on October 4, 2007 in his 72nd year. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and resided in Rennie, Manitoba, moving to Kenora in 1957. Ben married Jean in 1957 and made his home here in Kenora. He owned and operated Devlin Timber with his brother Joe from 1954 to 1990. Ben's six grandsons were his pride and joy. He spent a lot of time attending whatever activities they participated in at numerous sporting and school events, he had the best outdoor rink in the neighborhood for all to enjoy. Hunting was his greatest passion, he looked forward to spending time at his 5 star cabin at the farm in Manitoba. During his retirement Ben still spent many hours consulting at Devlin Timber. He was a lifetime member of the Kenora Kinsmen and K40, he was chairman of Ducks Unlimited Lake of the Woods Chapter for many years and sat on the board for LOWBIC. Ben's memory will be cherished by his wife Jean; daughters, Debbie (Glen), Shelley (Orlo), Carla (Mark) and grandsons, Kyle, Andrew, Aaron, Justin, Jordan and Benny; sisters, June (Gus) Gelhorn, Olga North; sister-in-law Lucy Devlin; step-sisters-in-law Amelia Devlin and Eileen Devlin. He will also be missed by many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Many special friends touched his life especially Jack Shodin, Howie Adams, Brian Newton, Pebbles Rimstad and the morning coffee crew. He was predeceased by his parents, Marie and John Devlin; infant son Mitchell; brother Joe and many step-brothers and step-sisters. A Celebration of Ben's Life will be held at the Best Western Lakeside Inn on Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Todd McPherson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ben's charity of choice the Salvation Army, 104 Matheson Street South, Kenora, Ontario P9N 1T8, Lake of the Woods District Hospital, 21 Sylvan Street West, Kenora, Ontario P9N 3W7 or a charity of your choice.
