Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE JOSEPH MAH 1937 - 2007 Peacefully, and with dignity, surrounded by his loving family, George passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital on October 5, 2007. George will be deeply missed by his wife of 49 years, Loretta (Peters); daughters, Jody (John Pereira) and Tracie (Paul Lyew) of Winnipeg; son Tyrone of Salt Spring Island; son-in-law Barrie Nelson; and by his grandchildren, Jordan, Toshman, and Brontë. When he married Loretta, he became a beloved brother to Loretta's siblings, Kara, Randy, Gloria and Sharron. He leaves nieces, nephews, great nephews, and many friends. George was born in Vancouver on February 6, 1937. He met Loretta in Winnipeg and they were married on October 5, 1958. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and was happiest when the house was buzzing with family and friends. George worked for the City of Winnipeg and retired in 1992. As a young man he was a gifted athlete and for as many years as his health permitted, he contributed many, many hours to coaching and supporting community team sports. As a quiet, strong believer in his faith, he made long lasting friendships as a member of the Gospel Mennonite Church. Illness was a constant in George's life, and through the years he was an inspiration for the grit and determination he demonstrated, with Loretta by his side, while facing what seemed like unbearable physical obstacles. It is fitting that his favorite bible passage was from Isaiah 40:31, But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint. The family thanks the many doctors who looked after George through the years, his second family of nurses at the St. Boniface Kidney Dialysis Unit, and finally the compassionate staff at the St. Boniface ICU. Thank you to Pastor Al Letkeman for his constant support. Viewing and prayers will be held on Tuesday evening, October 9, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at Gospel Mennonite Church, 232 Nassau Street. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Morrow Gospel Church, 755 St. Anne's Rd. St. Vital. Donations may be made in George's memory, to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch. Arrangements by Birchwood Funeral Chapel 1-888-454-1030 or 1-204-346-1030
