JESSIE TRAVERSE April 23rd, 1924 October 5th, 2007 With family, friends, beloved sister Clara, her nieces Doreen, Terri, Ruby, Colleen, Beatrice and her husband Edgar by her side, Jessie Traverse (nee Woodhouse) of Lake St. Martin, Manitoba, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 5, 2007. Jessie passed away at the age of 83 years old. She was predeceased by her husband Harry in 2000; sons, Leonard and Calvin; daughters, Norma and Leanne; parents William and Mary Woodhouse; brothers and sisters, Mary, Harriet, Colin, Gilbert, Christy, Ross, Robert, Harry and Alfred; son-in-law Albert Henderson. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Christine (Ron) Hildebrand of Teulon, Gertie (Russell) of Vancouver, B.C., Priscilla Robinson of Lake St. Martin, Lorna (Clifford) Sumner of Dauphin River, Elaine Henderson of Winnipeg, George (Loretta) Traverse of Winnipeg, Colin Traverse of Lake St. Martin, Oliver Traverse of Vancouver, B.C., Greg (Ruby) Traverse of Lake St. Martin, Cheryl (Adrian) Sinclair of Lake St. Martin and Karen (Ernest) Gabriel of Portage La Prairie. She will also be remembered by her 36 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren, her loving twin sister, Clara Woodford of Fairford and her children. Also left to cherish her memory are her sister-in-laws, Edith Gagen, Evangeline Traverse, Bertha Sumner and brother-in-law, Mark Traverse all of Lake St Martin; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. It was moms' last wish to be laid to rest with her family in Fairford. Jessie married Harry Traverse on November 28, 1948 and together they raised 15 children. Jessie also raised many of her own grandchildren. Our mother enjoyed sewing, she loved to collect material to be sewn into blankets for her children and grand children. She was also very good at knitting slippers and making rugs for her family. One of her favorite pastimes was working on puzzles and doing crosswords. She loved to keep up to date with current affairs and the news often chatting on the telephone with her sister Clara every evening before going to bed. Jessie was a loving mother and grandmother who was deeply loved and will be forever remembered. A wake service will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2007 at 7:00 p.m.. The funeral service will be held on Friday, October 12, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Both services will be held at the Fairford House of Prayer, Fairford, MB., with Pastor Wilfred Bruce and Jim Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at St. Helen's Anglican Cemetery. Luncheon after the service will be held at the church hall in Fairford. Special thanks to Dr. Pillay and the nurses at Hunter Memorial Hospital in Teulon, who took wonderful care of our mother. A big thank you to Eunice, Fern and Vernice for the flowers that were made.
