Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARTHA (BUNNY) MALKIN June 25, 1918 - October 7, 2007 It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Martha (Bunny) Malkin at Kin Place Personal Care Home at the age of 89 years. Martha was born in Inveraray, Scotland. Martha was a member of the Air Raid Protection Patrol in London during the Blitz. She received the Defence Metal in 1939, and she received a War metal in 1945. Martha immigrated to Canada in 1947 where she met her husband George on the boat in route to Canada. She went to Toronto while he came to Winnipeg. They continued writing and in 1948 she came to Winnipeg. They were married in 1949 and had two children, Catherine Parkinson and Allen Malkin. Mom has always been an active volunteer in her community. In Transcona she worked to have mentally challenged children educated in the public school system. She volunteered in Oakbank with the Regional Committee, The Another Time Around clothing store, and she also knitted for and helped pack Christmas hampers. She loved music and dancing, she had a great sense of humour, a caring heart and would try to make her little part of the world a better place for everyone. She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her husband George Allen Malkin, son Allen John Malkin, daughter Catherine Parkinson, Pat and Bill Wretham, Anne, Ron (Brenda), and many nieces and nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held Friday, October 12, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakbank United Church, Reverend Dawn Ballantine-Dickson officiating. Interment will take place at the Transcona Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Kin Place Personal Care Home for treating Mom with kindness and compassion.
