Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVERNON EDWARD WILSON, CD November 26, 1921 - October 2, 2007 Second World War Veteran Vernon Edward entered into rest peacefully on October 2, 2007 at the Peace Portal Lodge in Surrey. Vernon (Vern) was born in Carberry, Manitoba on November 26, 1921. He was predeceased by his loving wife Alice, on October 2, 1999, an infant daughter, Jo Ann; and his parents, Marie Anne Cheyne (Huppe), Norman Edward Wilson and stepfather Cecil Cheyne. Beloved father of Wayne (Adeline), Doug (Darlene) and Cheryl (Gord); cherished grandfather of Jodi, (Angelo), Andrew (Corey), Tara, Stephanie (Kevin), Steven, Jo and Michelle; proud great-grandfather of Matthew, Lucas, Joey, Aidan, Tyee and Austin. His love of family, strength, integrity and wise counsel will never be forgotten. Vernon was raised in Winnipeg and in 1941, he married Alice Lindsay, his high-school sweetheart! Vernon served overseas during the Second World War in the Royal Canadian Air Force and he retired as a Master Warrant Officer in 1974. He and Alice had many postings and made life-long friendships which were treasured and maintained through the years. Attending church and becoming an integral part of every community was always important to them. Yet their family was, without question, their first priority! Their love, commitment and respect for each other knew no bounds. It is a blessing that they are finally reunited. A celebration of Vern's life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at the Sunnyside United Church, 15639 - 24th Avenue in Surrey with Rev. Doug Alexander officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to Peace Portal Lodge at 15441 - 16th Avenue, White Rock V4A 8T8 or to a charity of your choice, would be greatly appreciated. We would like to express our appreciation for the regular visits and communications from his many friends and relatives. God bless you all!
