Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOANNE LEE SMITH (nee SWANSON) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joanne Lee Smith (nee Swanson), age 60, on Friday, September 28, 2007, at home in Cowichan Bay, BC. This loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many, will be sadly missed but so fondly remembered by all who knew her. Joanne is survived by her husband Rob Jevons; her son Kevin and Claire Wilson of Nanaimo, BC (grandchildren, Alek, Miki, Lena, and Morgan); her daughter Deidre Davis of Calgary, AB; her twin sister Carol and Larry Binne (binnel@shaw.ca) of Kelowna, BC (Scott and Karen); her brother Jim and Sherry Swanson of Sidney, BC (Shauna, Stacey, and Ryley). Also counted as immediate family in BC are Lee and Kevin and their two children, Jordana and Callum. Joanne was born in Winnipeg on May 24, 1947, the twin daughter of Jack and Fran Swanson, and raised in the close-knit then-new community of Wildwood Park, Section F. She attended Vincent Massey Collegiate and was touched to hear from so many childhood friends during the past three months. She will also be so deeply missed by Diane Campbell Page, John Blandford, and cousin Marion Sage. Soon after school, as a young woman, Jo travelled out to Vancouver Island, which she has called home ever since. After 40 years, on her first visit back to Winnipeg and Fort Garry in 2004, Jo, with her phenomenal memory, could tell you who had lived where in the Park ! Jo was a very loving, caring, selfless woman, who touched many lives along the way. Her positive thinking and wonderful big smile will always be held in our minds and our hearts. A celebration of Jo's life was held Friday, October 5 in Duncan, BC Joanne wished that any donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, CancerCare or to the TransCanada Trail. 1-800-465-3636.
