Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALFRED GORDON DAVIES It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Alf, our beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend on September 29, 2007 at the age of 29. Alf is survived by his father Alfred (Judie), brother Michael, sister Kristen (Tyler), nephew Reilly and niece Talitha. Alf was predeceased by his loving mother Heather who passed away in January 2007. Alf was born in Winnipeg and grew up in North Kildonan. As a young student he attended Maple Leaf School, John Pritchard School and River East Collegiate. His Post Secondary studies were at the Universities of Victoria, Manitoba and Winnipeg. Alf was a bright, inquisitive student who enjoyed challenging the status quo. Alf laced on a pair of skates when he was four and for 15 years played hockey on back yard and barn yard rinks, open ice at Gateway Community Club, covered ice as a Marauder, Kodiak, EastMan Select and with the Winnipeg South Blues. Mountain biking, hiking, camping and hours swimming and sailing at the lake filled the gap between hockey seasons. An outgoing and personable employee, Alf was always working. One of his favourite jobs was with the West Broadway Housing Renewal project where he supervised young trainees. The Keg, in Winnipeg and Victoria was a fun environment where he met many long term friends. Alf was versatile and willing to take on challenging positions becoming committed to excellence. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Alf's grandparents Olive McCaine and Florence Davies as well as Susan and Jodis McCaine, and Eric Butenschon, for their special care and support to Alf throughout the years. Cremation has taken place and a private family service was held at St. Vital Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at Klassen Funeral Home on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. Donations may be made in Alf's memory to Youth Programs at the Broadway Neighbourhood Centre. Ascension And if I go, While you're still here Know that I live on, So you must have faith. I wait for the time When we can soar together again, -both aware of each other. Until then, live your life to its fullest, And when you need me, Just whisper my name in your heart, I will be there. I think about Alf often, his huge smile and great hugs. I would like to be in touch with his family that he talked about so highly all the time. His sister and her kids were always on his mind while in Victoria. It is a very nice memory meeting Alfred Sr. and Judy while they were visiting in Victoria. I know that Alf and I would be friends today, I love that guy! Thinking of you fondly and often my Friend, Love Tatiana - Posted by: Tatiana Paul (GoodFriend) on: Apr 04, 2012
