MORRIS WIWCHAR 1924 - 2007 Peacefully, with his family by his side, Morris Wiwchar of Piney passed away October 13th, 2007 at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 82. He was born to William and Tekla Wiwchar in Overstoneville, MB, December 30, 1924. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean, his children; sons Daniel, Robert (Donna), Tracy (Cathy), and daughter Nancy (John) Brunelle, four grandchildren, Matthew and Michael Wiwchar and Kirsten and Gillian Brunelle. Also surviving him are his two sisters, Olga (Ray) Blixt, and Helen Blixt, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Morris was predeceased by his infant son, Alan, his parents, sisters Sophie Lebedynski and Ann Link, parents-in-law Bern and Zelma Shaw, brothers-in-law Ron Shaw and Wilbur Blixt and nephew Cory Shaw. As a teenager, Morris worked at the creosote plant in Sioux Lookout, and in the bush both in Ontario and Manitoba. In 1961, he and his family moved to Piney, MB, where he worked for 24 years for Manitoba Highways and later 10 years with Manitoba Housing. Morris was an extremely hard worker, but in his spare time he enjoyed fishing, tinkering and watching hockey. Morris accomplished quite a feat in that he spent over nine years on peritoneal dialysis. However, this took a toll on his heart and he finally succumbed to his illness. We didn't want to let you go. You were a good man, husband, father, and papa. We love you and miss you. You will be in our hearts forever. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in the P.D. Unit, the staff in the M.I.C.U. at the St. Boniface Hospital and the Home Care nurses, especially Adina Meek. Your care and compassion were greatly appreciated. A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 18, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Drive, Steinbach, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada - Manitoba Branch, 730 Taylor Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3M 2K8. Arrangements by: Birchwood Funeral Chapel 1-888-454-1030 or 1-204-346-1030
