Date of Passing: Oct 13, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALBERTA JANE MOLLARD (nee STOREY) April 22, 1916 October 13, 2007 Peacefully with her family by her side on October 13, 2007, Alberta passed away at Riverview Health Centre. Alberta will be sadly missed by her two sons, Dwight (Cindy) and Dwaine (Shirley), grandchildren, Brett, Becky (Tyler), Jamie (Brenda), Jolene and great-granddaughter Keira, as well as her sister Doris Raynor, nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Lavinia (Lil) Storey, her sister Alice Lawrence and her loving husband Duff. Alberta was born in Argyle; the eldest of three sisters. Growing up, she was the lead hand on the family farm where she especially loved working with the horses. She belonged to the 4H Club, enjoyed attending all of the local dances and was a star baseball pitcher for Teulon and Balmoral. Alberta and Duff met in Teulon and were married in 1939. They carried on with Duff's market gardening operation just north of Balmoral where they lived and began raising their two sons. In 1956, they moved to Winnipeg and made their home on St. Vital Road for the next 45 years. Alberta enjoyed being a homemaker and later the Supervisor of the HBC Candy Department until her retirement in 1981. Alberta was a wonderfully kind and caring person who always put others ahead of herself. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren. Alberta was a wonderful cook and the results were always shared with others. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needlework, music, bowling and tending to her large collection of beautiful African Violets and flower gardens. Shortly following Duff's passing in 2003, Alberta moved into Lions Place where she enjoyed playing shuffleboard and carpet bowling. Due to failing health, her last year was spent at Vista Park Lodge and Riverview Health Centre. Until the end, Mum maintained her smile, twinkling eyes and easy-going personality. A celebration of Alberta's life will be held on Friday, October 19, at 1:30 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Stonewall, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alberta's memory to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4G2 or a charity of your choice. Heartfelt thanks to the Lions Place homecare workers, Vista Park Lodge and Riverview Health Centre for their wonderful care and compassion. Thank you Mum and Grandma for always being there for us. You will remain in our hearts forever. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
