BEVERLEY JOANNE GINGELL WINZOSKI October 1, 1949 - October 14, 2007 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Beverley Winzoski on Sunday, October 14, 2007, at the Health Sciences Centre, with family at her side. She was 58 years young. How do you even start to explain the loss of someone so truly special? Memories of Beverley will be cherished forever as a person of her magnitude can never be forgotten. Beverley was born on October 1, 1949, in Winnipeg. She grew up in East Kildonan. Ken met Beverley in 1967 when his car needed water for his radiator. Although they were young, from that day on, Bev and Ken both knew they were soul mates. Shortly after completing her studies at Miles MacDonnell Collegiate, Beverley married Ken in October 1967. On October 30, Bev and Ken would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Ken's heart is broken as he reflects on their past together. While she suffered in silence, Beverley tried to prepare Ken for this day, to show him what to do after she was gone, but nothing could truly prepare Ken for such a great loss. Together, Ken and Beverley raised their two boys, Trevor and Jason, in their multiple homes of residence. Bev always worked to create a nurturing home environment. She always wanted the best for her family. These times were filled with laughter, spirit and created family ties that will never be forgotten. Bev was intelligent, organized and very determined. As their children were growing up, Beverley always took command while Ken worked shifts at his job. While busy raising her family, Bev worked for a number of businesses including Safeway, Biggar Industries and EH Price. Bev's big, caring heart and work ethic served her well in guiding her family every day. Throughout the years, Beverley and Ken built many new homes together. She took the lead in the design and financing of their houses while Ken did the field supervision; they were an unstoppable team. Outside of her family life, she was involved with Rossmere bowling and enjoyed bingo nights. Her hobbies included a serious love of reading, knitting and visits with friends. She loved to drive around in her convertible with her dog, Miss T. She loved going for dim sum. She enjoyed all types of music. Summers were spent in Gimli with family, entertaining friends and creating wonderful memories. Vacations were often spent with family in British Columbia. Beverley's greatest joy in the last few years was witnessing the arrival of and spending time with her five grandchildren. She loved to have them around and hear them call her nana and grandma and she would anxiously prepare for their much anticipated visits. She was a very doting grandma who adored her babies. Having her grandchildren around helped Bev cope with her illness. Living life on the edge and to the fullest are the words that describe Beverley's personality the best. You would never find a more true, honest and reliable person. Her laughter and sense of humour were incomparable and she always had an instant smile for people. Her presence lit up any room and people always seemed to come together when she was around, creating happy gatherings. Even though she spent the last eight years battling PPH, she never felt sorry for herself. She always greeted Ken with a big smile when he came home from work. She was always a person who put everyone before herself. Beverley was predeceased by her parents George Walter Gingell and Violet (Daisy) Winterbottom. She is survived by her husband Kenneth Winzoski, her parents-in-law Elsie and Joe Winzoski, her children Jason (Kim) and Trevor (Donna), brothers Glenn (Valerie) Gingell, Brian (Bev) Gingell and sister Gail (Don) Hamilton, numerous nieces and nephews and her much adored grandchildren Riley, Rachel, Daria, Rebecca and Caitlyn. Beverley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Special thanks to Bev's sister, Gail, for all of her phone calls from the West coast. They were much appreciated by Bev and Ken. Special thanks to Pat Capri for all of the calls she made as well. Thanks to Dr. Bshouty and a special thanks to the staff on GH6 at the Health Sciences Centre for their loving care, compassion and attention to Bev. A celebration of Beverley's life will be held Friday, October 19 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. You were a very special woman who gave so much to this world in such a short lifetime. We consider ourselves truly blessed and honoured to have known and shared in your life. I will miss you - Ken.
