Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAROLD GEORGE SHORTEN 1913 2007 Harold passed away on September 25, 2007, he was born June 7, 1913 in Regina. The first child of John T. and Ellen (Bartlett) Shorten. Because of the depression, he went to work for Paulin Chambers at the age of 15, attending school at night to help support his family. He worked for the same company in Winnipeg and later in New Jersey as an accountant. He earned his accounting degree in 1951 from University of Manitoba and became a member of CMA in 1953. He joined the RCAF in 1943 and served until 1945. In 1940 he married Margaret Sproul, who passed away in 1988. In 1962 he became employed by Aetna in Seattle and the Fireman's fund in Vancouver, in 1971 when he also became a member of the Insurance Institute of Canada. He studied and worked hard all his life and was also a long time member of the United Church of Canada. In retirement he was an avid square dancer and a snowbird, wintering in Mesa, AZ for many years. He is survived by his daughter, Gail Jackson (Martin), son Richard, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who will all miss him very much. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in Forest Lawn Chapel, Burnaby.
