Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD HERBERT (BERT) LARWOOD December 2, 1930 October 11, 2007 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bert Larwood at the Neepawa Hospital on Thursday, October 11, 2007 after a courageous battle with multiple mylomoa cancer and Parkinson disease. Bert is survived by two daughters, Cindy (Ken) and Patricia (Harlan); sister Marina (Donald) and brother Fred. Also surviving are nieces, nephews and cousins across Canada and England. Bert was predeceased by his father Charles in 1951; mother Alice in 1966; sisters June in 1987 and Irene in 1987. Born at Norgate, Manitoba, Bert was the third child born to Charles and Alice Larwood. He received his education at Turtle Plains School. At the age of 14, he was cutting cordwood in the mountain in the winter and drove horses and wagon hauling sheaves of grain at threshing time. He also drove a four horse team to sow grain and work the land. After his dad's passing he took over the farm in all aspects. He worked out at building a dam at White Dog Falls in Ontario. He then purchased a truck to haul gravel on construction of several highways in Manitoba. During the winter months he was busy hauling hay and cattle for neighbours. Bert had a deep passion for horses. He always had horses on the farm. For years he rented out mares for the P.M.U. industry and was always selling or buying horses at the auction marts. He participated in many heavy horse competitions at fairs and parades. It has been only two years (2005) since he drove his team in the Lily Festival Parade in Neepawa. When he wasn't working he played baseball with the Reeve Orioles for several years. After retiring from playing baseball, he played slo pitch with a team from Ste. Rose. In the early 1980s he tried his hand at operating a store at Norgate Corner. In any activity that Bert was involved in, whether work or play he gave one hundred percent plus of himself. We will miss him! We, the family, would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at the Neepawa Hospital and Health Sciences Centre along with CancerCare and the Parkinson Society. Many thanks to the home care workers and CancerCare drivers. We appreciated all their help and compassionate care for Bert. Prayers will be held at Dobchuk Funeral Home in McCreary on Friday, October 19, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the Kelwood Community Centre in Kelwood on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Father Noah Njegovan officiating.
