ERIC ERNEST SMITH (SMITTY) March 10, 1945 - October 9, 2007 IBEW Local 424 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Eric. He passed away peacefully on October 9, 2007 at home with his daughter and birds by his side. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Carrie (Al) of Kamloops BC, son Kelly (Kerri) of Hinton, and son Jason (Tammie) of Winnipeg; grandchildren Dean, Casey and Samantha, step-grandchildren Natashia (Morgan), Daniel, Brendan and Cody. Also mourning his loss are his brothers Lawrence and Wayne, ex-wife Donna (Doug) and sister in-law Diana (Ingy). Eric also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and their families, and his special friend Laura (Dex) who was like another daughter to dad. He also leaves many brothers and sisters of the IBEW. Eric was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Freda and brother Allan. Eric was very proud of his children, both his sons also became electricians and his daughter is a wannabe carpenter, He spent many hours teaching his kids the how to's. We can fix anything now. We will miss his wealth of knowledge, and endless stories. One of Dad's fondest memories were his summers at Grand Beach with the love of his life Donna Smith, the kids, Grandma and many, many friends. He most enjoyed all the horseshoe tournaments with his dear friends Cliff and Pat Phillips. WE HOPE THERE IS ICE CREAM IN HEAVEN WAITING FOR YOU DAD, AND DON'T FORGET TO FEED WOLFEE Special thanks to his son in-law Al and special friend Laura for all their support in Dad's last years. We couldn't have done it without them. Also thank you to Dr. Koochin and staff, Dr. Beal and Brandy for taking Dad as a patient when no one else would. Thank you to all the rest of the doctors and nurses who are too many to mention. Many thanks to IBEW 424 for everything they have done for Dad in his illness, especially getting him a scooter. It gave him back his independence, that meant everything to him. It was greatly appreciated. At Eric's request there will be no formal service, but we will be returning him to Grand Beach, Manitoba in the spring where he wanted to finish his life.
