Date of Passing: Oct 16, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBARBARA ANN MALCOLMSON Peacefully in her sleep, the family announces the passing of Barbara Ann Malcolmson on Tuesday, October 16, 2007. Barb leaves to mourn her three daughters and their families, Pam and Jeff (Scott and Krista), Tracey and Steve (Jordan and Austin), and Karen and John (Jack and baby in January 2008). Barb also leaves her siblings, George (Jane), Janet, Penny, Susan (Barry) and all of their families. She was predeceased by her mother Phyllis (McLellan) in 1975 and her father Harry Malcolmson in 2002. Barb was born and raised in Carman. She grew up in the Malcolmson home along with her four siblings on O'Brien Street. She married in 1966 and over the next eight years Pam, Tracey, and Karen were born. The girls grew up in Carman and Barb was kept busy ensuring they were all able to get to their respective activities. She was involved with the girls as a 4H leader and baseball coach. In the winter it was taking Tracey and Karen to ringette and Pam to curling. Barb also enjoyed curling herself. Barb was always at the ringette game, the curling bonspiel, or the baseball tournament. Summers were spent camping with the family on many adventures from tenting to traveling in the fifth wheel. Barb was home when the kids were young and then went back to work part time in the later years. She was a good friend to many and always had an open home for friends, family and all of the kid's friends. She will be missed. In around 1999 Barb was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease at a young age. This disease quickly dictated how she would live out the end of her life. Alzheimer's took over her body and she was unable to manage on her own. She was fortunate to have people around to care for and about her to ensure she was comfortable at the time of passing. A private family service is planned. Interment will be at the family plot in the Greenwood Cemetery, Carman. In lieu of flowers and cards, a donation may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation, 350 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 3J2.
