JOHN THOMAS FLOYDE Tom passed away peacefully October 16, 2007 at the Ste. Rose General Hospital, age 91 years. He will be lovingly remembered by daughter Margaret (Bob Crawford) Calgary, son Earle (Lenore) Winnipeg, son Kenneth of McCreary and daughter Carol Caumartin (Jerry) of McCreary. Also surviving are sisters, Mary McGregor of Carman, Lillian Hoey of Winnipeg and special friend Mary Whyte of McCreary. Much loved grandfather to Jim (Tammy), Rob of Calgary, Jason (Jacquie), Kendra (Daniel) of Winnipeg, Duane (Nadine), Terence (Tina), Kendell (Marc) of McCreary, as well as nine great- grandchildren. Tom was predeceased by his wife Florence in 1996 and brothers Leonard, William and Lindberg. On October 12, 1916 on a farm homesteaded by his parents, John and Mary (Satterthwaite) Floyde, Thomas Floyde was born. He was educated at Rosamond School. Education was a priority for the family and Tom's contribution of 35 years as trustee was honoured in 1985 on his retirement. Tom began farming on his own in 1940, the same year he married Florence (Meldrum). Tom and Florence moved from the farm to a home in the village on July 1, 1980, but Tom continued to farm a half section until 1991. Winters allowed time to indulge in his love of curling and in 1982 Tom received a plaque for 50 consecutive years of curling at McCreary. Church attendance and participation were always very important to Tom as he served on various boards and committees. Funeral services will be held on October 19, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Knox United Church, McCreary with Rev. Beth McLean officiating, Interment in McCreary Cemetery. Pallbearers, Jason and Kendra Floyde, Dan Timmerman, Duane, Terrance and Kendell Caumartin. Honourary pallbearers James and Robert Olliver and everyone in attendance. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Knox United Church Memorial Fund, McCreary, MB R0J 1B0. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. D. O'Hagan, Dr. C. Gudmundson and the staff of the Ste. Rose Hospital. Dobchuk Anderson Funeral Home, McCreary in care of arrangements.
