Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRALPH GORDON NICHOLSON December 28, 1928 October 11, 2007 Peacefully after a lengthy illness, we regret to announce the passing of Ralph Nicholson on Thursday, October 11, 2007 at the Grace Hospital at the age of 78 years. Remaining to forever cherish Ralph's memory are his son Kevin, wife Brenda and grandchildren Kirsten and Connor of Winnipeg; as well as his sister Pat Poirier; and brother, Con Nicholson both residing on Vancouver Island. He was predeceased by his wife and best friend Eunice in 1996; sister Inez Teed; and brother Robert Nicholson. Ralph was born in Lefleche, Saskatchewan in 1928. His employment enabled him to live in Calgary, Edmonton, Regina and Winnipeg where he had lived in St. James for the last 33 years. In his early career, Ralph was employed at a variety of positions, however his main career was with Texaco Canada Ltd. where he was employed for 33 years, retiring as a Superintendent in 1986. Outside of family activities, his passion was woodworking and he was a master craftsman. Throughout his life, Ralph's creative skills allowed him to complete many projects such as building boats, campers, grandfather clocks and in his later years produced several wood carvings. His wood carvings are amazing in detail and have obtained public notice. Ralph's work will last forever. In addition, he enjoyed and supported sports. He loved to play billiards or snooker where he participated and competed in both Canada and the United States at a very high level of play. Ralph's love for this sport and his skills in woodworking enabled him to design and build custom pool cues for family, friends and competitors. In compliance with Ralph's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. We gratefully decline flowers, and ask that memoriam donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 on Ralph's behalf. Ralph was a great father, grandfather and a friend to many, he will be sorely missed.
