DOROTHY (DOLLY) CECILIA VERBECK (nee CUTTS) Passed away suddenly at the Victoria General Hospital on October 12, 2007, with her family by her side. Dolly was born in Winnipeg to Mary Emma and Herbert George on December 6, 1917. Dolly was raised in Winnipeg, she worked for the T. Eaton Company in the cosmetics department. In 1963 she moved to California where she worked in the May Company in North Hollywood in cosmetics. She made many new friends in the film industry. She moved back home in the early 1980s and resided at the Rotary Villa in Fort Garry, there she also made many new friends and was close to her family. In her early years there she loved to have her garden, and was part of the many activities that took place there. She looked forward to casino trips with her sister Betty. Mom spent her remaining years there until ill health made it impossible for her to stay there. At the end of June 2007 she went into the Golden Door Personal Care Home till her untimely death. She was predeceased by her daughter Marlene of California, and her brothers George, Arthur, and Harold. She is survived by her daughter Patricia and son-in-law Bob Lewis of Winnipeg, son-in-law Jim Maltman of California, her sister Betty, sisters-in-law Mary and Phyllis, several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; grandchildren Diana, Debbie, (Rodger), Jeff of Winnipeg, and Dale of California; great-grandchildren Chantal, Kaitlyn, and Tori of Winnipeg. Our special thanks to Anne, Stacy, and the caregivers at the Rotary Villa for watching over mom while she was there. A special thank you to Dr. Hayward for looking after my mother for many years; also the doctors and nurses at the Victoria Hospital, and some caregivers at the Golden Door. Mother's wishes have been carried out and cremation and interment have taken place at Thomson In The Park. Our thanks to Ken and Marguerite at Green Acres Funeral Home. We would like to thank Father Moran for giving the last Blessing. You fought so hard to hold onto your memories of your life and family but Alzheimers was quickly fading them away, now you are free mom and nana. You are in God's hands now. There will be a small gathering of family and friends at the Rotary Villa on Hudson Street to say goodbye to mom on Tuesday, October 23 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Variety Children's Heart Centre, or The Children's Wish Foundation.
