LOUWINA VANDERVEEN (nee DE WIT) On October 17, 2007 the Lord called home our beloved mother and grandmother, Louwina Vanderveen. She is remembered with love by her children Mary and Hank Kamminga, Andy and Cindy, Cathy and Jannes Wiersema, Kelvin and Chris, Eric and Carolyn, Bill and Deb, Les and Agnes, Allan and Anita, Theresa and Peter Weessies, Audrey and Kevin Veldman, Mark and Carole, 61 grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister and five brothers. She was predeceased by her husband Jack Vanderveen and three grandchildren. Mom was born in the Netherlands on April 19, 1934. She immigrated to Canada with her family in 1953 and married Jack on January 5, 1954. Mom was a loving wife to Dad for the 51 years they were together and actively assisted him as they started the greenhouse business. Mom was a very devoted mother, raising her family of 11 children, working unselfishly all her life. Most importantly she demonstrated and instilled in us a life of faith and love for our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. When we moved out, with more available time she volunteered her sewing skills to help in the community. Mom never complained and always did her best to help others. When she found out two weeks ago that she was sick, mom hoped to have more time to talk with her grandchildren. However when we discovered her time with us would be short, she assured us God makes no mistakes . She prayed then each day for God to take her to His eternal home. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in the Canadian Reformed Church of Carman West (210-4th Ave. NW) with interment at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Boyne Lodge, Box 1644, Carman, MB R0G 0J0. Many thanks to doctors, nurses and staff at Health Sciences Centre and Boundary Trails for their care and compassion. Doyles Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
