Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHAEL HRYNENKO On October 17, 2007 at the Repos Jolys in St. Pierre, MB Michael passed away at the age of 85 years. Michael was born June 6, 1922 in Selo, Rozdil, Mykolaiv Rajon, Lvivska Oblast, Ukraine as the eldest son of Nicholas and Katharina. During the Second World War Mike was forced to leave home to go to Germany where he worked for the American Police Guard in the UNRRA Displaced Persons Camp in Cornberg. This is where he met Anastasia (Mary) Zinkewicz, the love of his life. They were united in marriage on October 25, 1946. In 1949 the couple immigrated to Canada settling in Carey and Dufrost where Mike worked for the railroad. Rosa was where the family finally settled. Mike farmed there until his retirement. In 2006, due to illness, he made his final move to St. Pierre. Dad was predeceased by his parents; wife Mary; infant son Nicholas; one infant grandson, and grandson David. Dad will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his children, Roman (Judy), Tony (Denise), Elsie (Reid Runka), and Jarvis (Cindy); five loving grandchildren, Michael (Sara), Melissa, Erin, Adam and Glenn; three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Brendan, and Anastasia as well as one brother Roman (Sophia) and family living in Ukraine. He was a devoted parishioner of the Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Rosa. His deep voice was heard for many years in the surrounding Ukrainian communities as church Cantor (Dyack). He was extremely proud of his heritage and ensured that his children and grandchildren carry on those traditions. Dad will always be remembered for the cigarette hanging from his lips, requesting instant kava and his quirkiness with words. Sharing his life stories built bridges between generations. And you could always tell when Dad was joking by the mischievous twinkle in his eye. Prayers will be said at 7:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, October 23, 2007. Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Rosa with interment following the service. In lieu of flowers donations in Mike's memory can be made to the Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Cemetery Fund, Rosa, MB. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of the DeSalaberry District Health Centre and all his friends that came to visit him. A special thank you to Janine and the staff of the Repos Jolys for your care, support, guidance and most of all for making Dad's last days happy ones.
