Date of Passing: Oct 19, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANK (FRANKIE) WHITE Peacefully on Friday, October 19, 2007, surrounded by family and friends, Frank passed away at West Park Manor on his 81st birthday. Remaining to forever cherish Frank's memory are his wife Eleanor; children, Carter (Shelagh), Deb (Ken) English, James (Ingrid); grandchildren, Graham (Amanda), James and Caitlin, Christopher and Carley, Paul and Ben; great-granddaughters, Sidney, Madison, Samantha and Serena; brother Lloyd; sisters, Jean and Jo-Ann; as well many nieces, nephews and adopted family members . Frank was born and raised in the West End and began his boxing career at age nine. He was a Featherweight Champion, winning Provincial and Canadian titles. He qualified for the 1948 Summer Olympics and represented Canada at the 1950 British Empire Games in New Zealand. Through the years, some of his many interests included roller-skating, speed skating, baseball, hockey, curling, bowling and golf. Frank also loved to play cribbage and would happily give lessons to anyone who had 25 cents to play with. Frank spent the majority of his working career at the Winnipeg Airport and retired from Cara Operations in 1991. Frank and Eleanor enjoyed many wonderful vacations together and he always enjoyed spending time with family and friends. We have many fond memories of dad playing Santa on Christmas Eve. He had a wonderful sense of humour, even though he did not like to draw attention to himself. In compliance with Frank's wishes a private family burial has taken place. Please join the family for a Celebration of Frank's Life on Wednesday, October 24 at 4:00 p.m. in the North Kildonan Mennonite Church, 1131 Roch Street. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to West Park Manor and especially the caring staff on 2 South. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank's memory to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, 10 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 4G2. Sorry Dad, no marching band! We'll miss you.
