Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROLAND MAXIM BEAUCAGE 1924 - 2007 Peacefully at the crack of dawn on October 21, 2007, after a three year battle with cancer, this brave soldier returned to his Creator. Roland was welcomed into the heavenly kingdom by his parents Rosa and Eugene, his son Daniel, his granddaughter Nathalie, his sisters Gilberte and Alice, as well as his brothers Pete and Leo. Left to remember and celebrate Dad's life are his beloved sisters Blanche and Lilliane, and his children Marjorie (Lise), Sylvia (Don), Lucien (Loretta), Leonard (Kelly), Marcy (Val), Verlie (John), Louanne, Jeffrey (Debbie) Mardelle (Don), Bernadette (Harry) and Angela (Denny). He will also be missed by his 16 grand-children, three great-granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews. He had a special bond with Nigel, Makaela and Nina who loved spending time with him. Dad adored his great-grandson Noah and visited him daily on his walks in the Norwood neighbourhood. Roland was born in Vassar, Manitoba on March 22, 1924. He lived there throughout his childhood, then left home to serve his country in the Second World War (1941 to 1945). Upon his return from the war, he married Rose Cayer and supported his family by harvesting the forest and operating a small sawmill. Dad's deep joy in life was being in the bush, cutting wood, picking blueberries, hunting and gardening. He was a joker and storyteller, loving to tease and make people laugh. He loved to dance and jig and was the life of many a gathering. He enlivened baseball tournaments with his expressive style of being the UMP and participated in many sporting activities, bowling and curling leagues. Also an active member of Les Chevaliers de Colomb and the Royal Canadian Legion, Roland volunteered at many community events. His generous spirit and helping hand also was visible in his brotherly caring for his elderly sisters. For all the simple act of kindness, you will be remembered. A special thank you goes to the third floor nursing staff at Foyer Valade. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 25, Paroisse du Précieux Sang, 200 Kenny with a reception at the Royal Canadian Legion, 134 Marion following the service.
