WILLIAM JAMES MASON
Date of Passing: Oct 22, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM JAMES MASON It is with great sadness we announce that our Dad, William James Mason, aged 87, peacefully passed away on October 22, 2007 at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Dad lives on in the hearts of his sons Kenneth (Monica), Jeffrey (Flora), his three wonderful grandchildren Maureen (Jeff), Ryan and Melissa. He will also be remembered by his sister Anne and many nephews, nieces and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Mary (1996), sisters Mary, Doris and brothers Steve, Michael, John and Norman. Dad served in the Second World War along with his two brothers Norman and Michael, as a Corporal with the 12th Manitoba Dragoons. After returning from the war, he worked as a Journeyman Pipefitter for over 35 years until his retirement in 1986. He had a passion for nature. We have fond memories of blueberry and mushroom picking, family fishing trips and picnics at Seven Sisters Falls, Dorothy Lake and Falcon Lake. Dad took pride in his vegetable and flower gardens, and enjoyed talking about his prized tomatoes. He also had a love for aquarium fish and bird-watching; he always had a pair of binoculars handy at home should he spot an interesting bird in his back yard. He loved football and hockey and rarely missed watching a game on T.V. Dad was always kind and generous to his children and grandchildren. Our sincere thanks to Boris and Jean Kohut, Dad's neighbours of 41 years, whose kindness, care and friendship was always a great source of comfort to Dad. Also thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Seven Oaks Hospital for their kindness and compassion. According to Dad's wishes, cremation has taken place, with a private family Interment to be held. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL in care of arrangements, 586-8044.
