KEN DELGATY It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ken on October 21, 2007 at Concordia Hospital at the age of 50 years. After several months of battling kidney cancer, Ken left us to join his mother Mary, who predeceased him on September 18, 2006. Ken leaves to mourn his loving father, Harvey, sister Marilyn Lukianchuk (Tony), brother David (Lorraine), nephews Darren (Margaret) and Ryan, nieces Lisa (Bob) and Kayla, great-niece Megan, great-nephew Ethan and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Ken was born in Winnipeg and lived here all of his life. One of his greatest accomplishments and passion was his love of lacrosse. He played for many years for local teams and at the national level. He went on to coach the sport he loved giving of his time to help younger players. Besides lacrosse, Ken also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, boating, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, going out to his cabin at the Manitoba Narrows and spending time with friends. Ken also spent lots of time visiting with his mother Mary at the personal care home and with his Dad out at the Narrows or in the city. Ken worked most of his life in the electrical wholesale field spending the last 14 years in sales at Wesco Distribution. He was well respected by his peers and customers alike developing long lasting friendships. Attributing to this were the numerous visits Ken received from co-workers, customers, and friends during his fight against cancer. Family was important to Ken but so were his friends, very much so. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to all those who visited Ken, sent notes of encouragement and gifts. Special thanks also go to the staff of the 3rd floor of Concordia Hospital for your compassionate care of Ken and to his two palliative care companions, Nancy and Joan, for being there with him when we could not. Cremation has taken place with Ken's ashes to be placed with his mother Mary. A celebration of Ken's life will take place in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave. on Tuesday, October 30 at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, if family or friends so desire, donations can be made in Ken's name to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. Grieve not, nor speak of me with tears, but laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you there.
