Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANDREW SANDER JACKSON We are sad to announce the death of Andrew Sander Jackson on October 23, 2007 at the age of 82. Andy was the loving husband to Elsie for 59 years. Devoted father to Brian and wife Carolyn, their children Steven, Scott and Laura of Thornhill. Daughter Barb and husband Wayne Leslie, their children, Jen and Ryan Zuk, Andrea and Sergio Almeida, Sarah and Craig White. Daughter Sandra and husband Pat Babulic and their children Sean and Jamie of Thompson. Great-grandfather to Jackson Zuk. Cousin of Jim and Ruth Stewart and Denys and Barb Stewart. Predeceased by his parents Alfred and Esther Jackson and son Rob. Dad was born on June 15, 1925, and lived in Winnipeg all his life. He attended Daniel McIntyre Collegiate. He enlisted in the Navy at 18 and was very proud of the time he spent on the frigate Glace Bay as an able body seaman. He loved to regale all with his stories of the North Atlantic. After the war Dad went on to achieve his Chartered Accountancy Degree. He worked for Glendinning, Gray Roberts, Department of National Revenue, and Peat, Marwick, Mitchell before starting his new career with Investors. Dad held many positions with the company as it grew, including President of Investors Group Trust Co. Ltd, President, Investors Syndicated Limited and at the time of his retirement after 33 years, as the Executive Vice-President, Investors Group. He received his FCA designation in 1970. Dad was a family man who loved his family and spent as much time as he could with us, coming home for lunch regularly to be with us. Always one to bring home treats when any of his kids were home sick, or on Friday night a big jug of A W root beer to make floats. Dad was very dedicated not only to his family but also to the community. He believed it was important to give back to the community. He coached little league baseball, delivered Christmas hampers, was the chair of Umpires 1967 Pan Am Games, sat on the board of United Way, Rainbow Stage, Victoria General Hospital, and Children's Hospital Foundation, and worked to raise funds for the University of Manitoba and Fort Whyte Centre. Dad enjoyed his curling at the Granite and Winnipeg Winter Club for many years and his golf at St. Charles Country Club. The cottage at Victoria Beach was his favorite summer spot. Andy and Elsie spent many winters on their cruises with old friends and enjoyed meeting new ones. The past few years have been very difficult for Dad. As his health deteriorated he tried to maintain his humour. We would like to thank all his old buddies that made time to visit him and to the staff of Tower 7 at Deer Lodge Centre for all their kindness and the respect they showed him. We will miss you, Dad, but find solace in knowing you are at peace. It has been a long hard journey. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Children's Hospital Foundation, CE501, 840 Sherbrook St. Winnipeg, MB R3A 1S1 Funeral services will be held on Monday October 29, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Point Rd. and North Drive, Fort Garry. Such a wonderful man....wish I’d known him better. He held a senior important position at Investors, but he was warm, friendly, approachable....completely without airs of pretense or self-importance. My sincere condolences to his family. - Posted by: Peter (Work colleague) on: Aug 31, 2019
