ARTHUR ZIESMANN With great sadness we announce the passing away of Arthur Ziesmann. On October 25, 2007 Art got his wish and passed into the arms of his Lord. He was surrounded by his loving family during his last hours. Arthur was born in Michaukowo Poland on February 14, 1924. In 1953 after serving in the war as a German soldier and spending time as a prisoner of war, Art immigrated to Canada. In 1954 he married his loving wife Hedwig Rapske. Since then they have shared both good times and difficult times together. Art was employed in Winnipeg as a welder. First at Trailer Mobile and then at Washtronics and Weststeel. He was a diligent and dependable worker. Art was a member of and served faithfully at Mission Baptist Church. One of his favorite volunteering duties was to spend Saturday's fixing or building things at Nutimik Lake Camp in the Whiteshell. After moving to Meadowood Retirement Home Art continued volunteering. He enjoyed ushering and helping others fix or do things they were not capable of. Art took great pride in his physical well being. He spent numerous hours a day both walking and cycling to remain fit. Until his illness he was extremely fit for a man of his age. Art was predeceased by his father, mother, one sister, one brother, three step brothers and five step sisters. Art leaves to mourn, his loving wife Hedwig; son Garry and wife Barb, grandson Derek; son Ken; grandsons Paul and John; great-granddaughter Jewels; daughter Ruth and husband Ben Lee; grandchildren, Michael, Chris and Katie; sister-in-law, Leah Ziesmann of Kelowna BC; sister Lydia and husband Artur Schwab of Germany; brother Alfred and wife Greta of Germany also. Sister-in-law Alma and husband Gordon Sennoff of Kelowna BC. Special thanks to Riverview Palliative Care Center, especially Linda and Dr. St. Goddard, as well as Meadowood Chaplain Pastor Dave; you made his last days easier! Also thanks to family and friends for your visits, cards and prayers. Funeral service will be held Thursday, November 1, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Mission Baptist Church, 771 Sargent Avenue, with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Arthur's memory to the Chaplancy Support Program in care of Meadowood Manor, 575 St. Anne's Road, Winnipeg, MB, R2M 5B2, or to the Mission Baptist International Foundation Inc (India Trust), 771 Sargent Ave, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0B5.
