Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY YACIUK Mary Yaciuk, age 62 years of Dauphin, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2007 at the Dauphin Regional Health Centre. Mary was born on December 1, 1944 in New Westminster, British Columbia to Bill and Nellie (nee Polarus) Weremchuk. In 1967, Mary met her future husband, Russell, and on September 28, 1968 they were married. Shortly thereafter, Mary and Russell moved to Lynn Lake, Manitoba where they remained until 1974, when they moved to the new community of Leaf Rapids. Mary and Russell were blessed with three sons, Roy born in 1970, Bill born in 1971 and John born in 1974. Mary enjoyed helping others, and volunteered her time wherever it was needed. In particular, she volunteered with children, both in the classrooms and at the library. She was also an active member of the Leaf Rapids Legion Ladies Auxiliary and was there to lend a hand with their various activities. In addition, Mary assisted with the minor hockey program for many years. Mary was also well known for her cooking, especially her perogies and cabbage rolls, which were community favorites for the people of Leaf Rapids. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Nellie Weremchuk; one brother in infancy; father-in-law Basil Yaciuk; mother-in-law Dora Yaciuk; brother-in-law Gordon Yaciuk. Left to cherish many fond memories are her loving husband of 39 years, Russell of Dauphin, Manitoba; son Roy of Thompson, Manitoba; son Bill and his children Amelia and Alekzander of Thompson, Manitoba; son John and his girlfriend Faith McEvoy of Thompson, Manitoba; grandson Hayden Maines of Gillam, Manitoba; sister Sheryn and her son Jesse of Emerson, Manitoba; sister-in-law Anne Yaciuk of Edmonton; sister-in-law Joanne Corigan of Brandon, Manitoba; brother-in-law John Yaciuk of Dauphin; special cousin Sophia Weremchuk of Vancouver, British Columbia. There are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members. Prayers were offered on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. from the Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Chapel in Dauphin. Funeral service was held on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. from the Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Chapel with Pastor Howard Burnie officiating and Alice Allen serving as organist. The eulogy was delivered by Dawn Boyd. Interment followed in the Dauphin Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Walter Baran, Bert Fawcett, Cliff Small, Ron Hutsal, Ryan Boyd and Roy Rawluk. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation or to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Memories: I look for you but can't find you.
