Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMURRAY HUNTER MADDISON Peacefully on Saturday, October 27, 2007, at the Boyne Lodge (Carman), Murray passed away at the grand age of 92 years. He will be sadly missed and remembered always by son Don of Carman, daughter Deb (Rick) Penner of Carman, son Alan (Agnes) of Carman. Cherished grandchildren, Tyler and special friend Kathy, Chris and special friend Carlin, Michael and special friend Nikki and Steven Maddison; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Dad was predeceased by his parents Blanche (Hunter) and John Maddison and stepmother Agnes Maddison; his beloved wife Leah Maddison (Phelps); and brothers, J.T. and Bill; and sisters, Eileen (Prest) and Alison (Delikatney); brother-in-law Ted Delikatney; and one infant daughter. Dad was born in Carman, Manitoba, May 16, 1915. At the age of four he went to live with his Grandma and Grandpa Hunter in the Forrest area due to the loss of his mother Blanche. This was a choice that Dad made and so went to school in that area till Grade Seven and then completed Grade Eight at Tracy school. On June 19, 1937, Dad married the love of his life Leah Phelps; they resided northeast of Carman for one year before moving to the Kilmory District. Mum and Dad had a grain and livestock farm, raising mink, cattle, horses, pigs, chickens and three children. He loved the farm life; Dad raised mink for several years and had many teams of horses which he showed at Carman Fair for a good number of years. Dad had a huge love of curling; he was very involved in the Carman Curling Club and served three years as president in the early 1970s. He participated in many bonspiels in Carman and surrounding areas where he acquired the nick name Walter. Dad enjoyed life, he was a jokester and known for more than the odd prank, there was never a dance on that would keep Dad and Mum away, even the occasional snow storm. Visiting friends and neighbours and card parties were great events, filled with laughter and engaging conversations. His love of old time and fiddle music lived on until his last day; there was always music coming from his room at the Boyne Lodge. We will miss Dad and Grandpa but are so thankful that he is finally at peace and has joined his partner of life, Mum and his Maker. The celebration of Dad's life will be held Wednesday, October 31, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. from the Carman United Church with Rev. Catherine Waldie officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Carman Hospital Health Auxiliary, Carman United Church Building Fund or the Boyne Lodge. Doyle's Funeral Chapel, in care of arrangements. (www.doyleschapels.com)
