MARGARET WIENS Margaret Wiens passed away October 26, 2007, at the age of 83 years. She was born January 4, 1924 in Russia to Wilhelm and Maria Sawatzky. She is survived by her children, Frank (Rhonda), Hildegard, Willie, and Margaret, sisters, Mary Rempel, Elizabeth Reimer, and brother Willie Sawatzky, sister-in-law Mary Sawatzky, sisters-in-law, Margaret Froese, Elizabeth MacDonald, Mary Heese, brother-in-law Willie Heese, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Erna and Jake Wiebe. She was predeceased by her husband Frank, sister-in-law Elsie Wiens, brothers-in-law, Johnnie Wiens, Ronald MacDonald, Aaron Reimer, and Peter Rempel. Margaret was born in Russia and her family immigrated to Canada in November 1925, and after numerous moves and travels the family settled in Gnadenfeld near Grunthal in 1926, where they started a farm. In 1957, they traded their home in Winnipeg for a dairy farm back in Gnadenfeld. Here they raised their four children and enjoyed the lives of dairy farming for many years. Margaret enjoyed entertaining their many family and friends that would come for meals. She was always ready to offer food to anyone that dropped by, especially for Faspa. Margaret was involved with the Maria Martha Verein and volunteering regularly at the Grunthal Thrift Shop. She enjoyed and treasured the many friendships she made over the years. In some way or another, she made an impact in everyone's lives she met. The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at the Grunthal Menno Home for their compassionate care for the past ten months. We really appreciated it. A viewing will be held Thursday, November 1, at 7:00 p.m., with a devotional at 7:30 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Drive, Steinbach, MB. The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 2, at 2:00 p.m. at the Elim Mennonite Church, 30 Main Street, Grunthal, MB, with interment at the Grunthal Cemetery.
