HUTCHISON (1947-2007) Peacefully on October 30, 2007 with his family at his side, Robert John Hutchison Sr. passed away at the age of 60. Born January 26, 1947 in Glasgow, Scotland to James and Annie (Bryers) Hutchison, Robert grew up in the suburb of Govan before following the love of his life Ann to Canada in 1967. Robert will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 38 years, Ann (Kerr) Hutchison and their four children, Robert John Jr. (Ramona) Hutchison, Karen (Dale) Linklater, Katrina (Gabe ) Derksen, Kirsten (Jonathan) Kisiloski; grandchildren, Logan, Liam, Taytum, Kienan, Tavis and Ellah. He will also be missed by his mother-in-law Ann Kerr, brother James (Jean) Hutchison, sisters-in-law Patricia (Kenneth) Taylor, Carol (Rick ) Dickin, Sharon (Doug) Homer, Kimberly (Jeff) Bouchard, brothers-in-law Peter (Shirlee) Kerr, John (Patricia) Kerr, his many nieces and nephews and countless friends both here in Canada and abroad. Robert was predeceased by his parents, James and Annie (Bryers) Hutchison, and his father-in-law Peter Kerr. Robert had a heart of gold and touched many people with his kindness, generosity, and abundant patience. He was always willing to help others without thinking twice, and was often the first one called upon when someone in the family was in need. He was a natural leader by example, and made every decision large and small with his family as the sole focus and priority. His children have always been eager and willing to please, their Dad's high standard of conduct being so consistent and so close at hand. His grandchildren each had a special connection with their Papa, and he always had time, energy and a unique nickname for each. As a husband, father, grandfather and friend Robert was always Giving, Loving, Strong, Kind, Patient, Understanding, Resourceful, and forever reliable. In Scotland Robert worked in the shipyards where he served his apprenticeship as an electrician. In Canada he began his life long career applying his skills to locomotives at CN for over 35 years. Hutch as he was known to his co-workers, excelled in numerous roles and positions. His work carried him across North America and as far as Bangladesh, but always led him home. After early retirement in 2002, Robert couldn't sit idle and his love for the railway led him to join the EMD team where he worked until recent. Robert loved to travel, taking countless trips with his family back to Scotland, and many others with Ann and friends to Greece, Spain, France and Hawaii to name a few. In his spare time Robert was active and well respected in all his life's communities; a dedicated Mason, past Master and secretary, a knowledgeable soccer Coach, a generous volunteer, a true friend, and a revered Rangers fan. A special thank you to Dr. Pat Harris, Dr. I. Mohammad, the staff in the Oncology department and third floor west nurses and staff at Concordia Hospital for all their care and support. Robert; Dad; Papa; we love you, and miss you. Thank you for being the best husband, dad, papa and friend there ever was, you will be in our hearts forever.
