ANNE THERESE JAMES (nee PETERSON) April 28, 1951 October 27, 2007 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anne James on October 27, 2007, after a long but courageous battle with cancer. Celebrating her life and cherishing her memory are her two sons Aaron and Daniel James, parents Walter and Winnie Peterson, brother Dr. Ron (Renata) Peterson, niece Krystie (Aaron) and nephew Christian Peterson, Aunt Stella Jansen, stepdaughter and granddaughter Alison and Eden James, In laws Arthur and Jean James, Brian, Stuart and Tony James and their families, as well as many other loving relatives, friends and co-workers, too numerous to mention. Anne was predeceased by her husband Ian, in March 2006. Anne grew up in Winnipeg but many of her happiest girlhood memories were from the glorious summer vacations she enjoyed with her family at the cottage at Grand Beach. It was there that Anne discovered her talent and passion for drawing and painting. Over the years, she created many interesting and beautiful artworks and was able to make a career using her creative talents. Her life could be described as being as colorful as her paint box, yet she had a subdued strength that belied her artsy nature. She was fiercely loyal, caring and protective of her husband and children. The long term friendships she formed were deep and meaningful. She was a gracious hostess who loved to have friends and family around her. She held the best parties and family gatherings, where many would partake of her joyful hospitality. We will remember Anne for the contributions she made to the world around her, although her quiet and gentle demeanor would not allow her to be boastful. She touched so many lives in so many ways and was continually giving of herself to help others. We shall miss her gentle and generous spirit, her smile, her laughter and her unconditional love for us all. She would tell us not to mourn her passing but to celebrate her life. Cremation has taken place. Please join us in a memorial and mass to celebrate Anne's life, on Monday, November 5 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Burrin Ave. in West Kildonan. Celebrants Msgr. Stan Jaworski and Fr. Henryk Laciak. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. Thank you to the amazing staff, especially Claire, Sharon and Dorothy, student nurses, especially Giselle and Mackenzie and volunteers Margaret and Gail at the Palliative Care Ward, eighth floor, St. Boniface General Hospital. Flowers should be delivered directly to the church, or alternatively, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Foundation or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
