EVELYN (EV) BEATRICE YEREX (nee LANGE) June 7, 1919 - October 31, 2007 On October 31 Evelyn Yerex aged 88 years passed over peacefully at her home, Taché Centre, in Winnipeg. Ev was predeceased by her loving husband, Edward James Yerex on April 11, 1997 and her darling infant son, Douglas also on April 11 to the minute, but in 1946. Born and raised on Victor St. in Winnipeg, she met and married Ed Yerex 1939. They settled in Edson, AB for years where they joined the Liberal Party as ghost writers for senior politicians. She was a champion bowler. In 1956 they moved back to Winnipeg's Valour Rd. where four generations eventually lived. In the 1960s they moved to St. Norbert, MB, known by the neighbourhood children as Grandma and Grandpa. They founded Theatre St. Genèse, an amateur community theatre group for any and all youth to enjoy. Ev and Big Ed changed the lives of many young people. They volunteered their skills to Age and Opportunity. Although Ev's interests were broad, she enjoyed card games, bird watching, fishing, camping, loved taijiquan and (thank goodness) baking and cooking. She loved creating oil paintings and was an avid outdoor canoeist and naturalist. Evelyn leaves to mourn her passing her four children Roy, Inez (Ines), Caroline and Clifford. By son Roy Yerex (and Sharlene Bartley) of Matlock MB: his children - Lisa Yerex of Geraldton, AU with children Emmett and Lawrence Hunter-Yerex, Yolanna Yerex (and Rick Wiebe) of Morden, MB, and Ed (and Sharon) of Winnipeg with children Dylan, Jordan, Dalton. By daughter Inez Ines Rogers (and John) of Toronto, ON: their children - Naomi (and Garry) Lambright of Maple, ON with children Elycia, Arianna and Matthew, James of Liverpool, UK, and Daniel (and Dionne) Rogers of Ballantrae, ON with children Robynne, Brandan, twins Joshua, and Noah. By daughter Caroline (and Harry) Miller of Winnipeg: her children - Barbara Barrett of Calgary, AB with child Chase Collins, Eladia Smoke (and Max Wilson with child Kaelah Marcoux) of Winnipeg, and Renata Smoke of Winnipeg. By son Clifford (and Rachèle) Yerex of Winnipeg: their sons - Joel Yerex with child Devin, Nathan (and Erica) Yerex with children Owen and Madeline Swendrowski-Yerex, and Robert. She also leaves to mourn her sisters Margaret Ingram of Florida, US and Jenny O'Neill of St. Albert, AB, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service open to family and close friends of Ev's will be held Saturday, November 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Fort Whyte Interpretive Centre.
