CORNELIS (NEIL) POOT Peacefully in Victoria General Hospital, Neil Poot passed away on October 11, 2007 at the age of 75. He was born in Delft, The Netherlands on May 7, 1932. He joined the Royal Netherlands Navy after graduation, serving on the aircraft carrier Karel Doorman. After service, he immigrated to Canada in 1954. He worked short term jobs until joining the Bank of Montreal (main branch) in 1957. He worked there until 1993 when he retired at age 61. Neil is survived by his wife of 51 years Dolores (nee Nault), sons, Marc (Yvonne), Chris (Kerry) and Neil Jr. (Sheila), and grandchildren, Ryan, Colin, Adelle, Jason, Shaun and Sara, sisters, Jeanne Vander Leeden and Wil Kattestaart, and brother-in-law Kos Kattestaart of Delft, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Hendrick and Petronella Poot, brother Laurence (Tonny), brother-in-law Wim, neice Elly, parents-in-law, Damase and Alvina Nault, and in-laws, Tony and Jessie Nault, Leo and Blanche LaRoche, Ken and Theresa Miller, Elmer and Agnes Richardson, and Sister Anne Marie Nault. The family wishes to thank our close friends who provided love and support during the tough times as well as the good times. A special thanks to the staff at Victoria Hospital for their kindness and professional care in helping Neil through his last days with dignity. A graveside ceremony will be held Saturday November 10, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Roman Catholic Cemetery on Crescent Drive, Fort Garry. This will be followed by a reception for friends and family at the Holiday Inn South, 1330 Pembina Hwy. Arrangements by Knysh Funeral Home (many thanks). In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Fort Whyte Centre are appreciated.
